Techniques for FIT
——-
- Send a hand-written note to an old friend next week. (I’ll do it too)
- Call a distant relative out of the blue next week. (I’ll do this one too)
- Oil up the bike and take a spin around the park next week. (I’ll do this one too)
- Hide from everyone for an hour each day and make progress on one of the books on your shelf. (I’ll finish “The Splendid and the Vile”)
Being Human – Fortune cookie wisdom

You always have options.
Human beings aren’t permanently rooted to one place, thought or circumstance. So do as your ancestors did: adapt, migrate, or perish. Or, to put it differently: try, fly or die. You’re in control, so try to maximize your current position, or go find a new playground or accept your fate. You always have options.

DJ Fit
I’ve been vacationing all week. We headed back up to a cabin in the woods where we meet idle time face to face. This year I felt more prepared because I’ve been idling at home, but it’s still jarring to peek at my watch thinking, “Wow. I thought it was later.” As a contrast, we’ll pack up soon and I’ll shake my head at how fast the week flew by.
Time is fleeting and art is long or something like that. Knowing this, I’ll consider my impromptu lake DJ impression with the floaties, a moment that left the kids scrambling for their omnipresent-phones yet unable to capture and memorialize on social media, as my magnum opus. It was glorious.
