Techniques for FIT
——-
- Research shows that what has happened, will happen. Be ready for it next time by taking notes and playing out alternate scenarios.
- “You’re right, you’re right, we need to do that,” means you still have work to do for buy in. “That’s right,” are the words you’re listening for to tell you if you’ve gotten through.
- Someone asked me if they were easy to do business with. They aren’t. It’s a great question to ask because we humans tend to take the path of least resistance, so we might as well be that path.
- Every day I’m reminded of just how hard communication is. The shortcut is to focus on defining terms. Easy to say, tough to do. Next week try, “To make sure we’re on the same page, when you say X, how do you define it?”
Being Human – Yes, yes, yes you’re doing it right

“Good boy.”
Look at how the top managers get top performance from their teams. You’ll see them reinforcing proper behaviors as much as you will see them correcting improper behaviors. I’m pretty sure that’s how my wife has trained me to stay on top of my household chores. It works.
Good stuff.

“‘Go Pack Go!
I’m up early in Green Bay helping UFB stock the kegs for his Thursday Night Football Packer party. Early in this case means driving in at 8:30am. Game time is at 7pm.
Outside the stadium we pass a group of Eagles and Packer fans, beers in hand, playing bag toss. We honk and they give us a lusty “Hey!!” cheer.
It’s going to be a long day fellas. Long day.
